Candice Gaukel Andrews, Environmental Writer and Nature Photographer
A multiple award-winning author and writer specializing in nature and travel topics, Candice has traveled around the world, from the Arctic Circle to Antarctica, and from New Zealand to Scotland's far northern, remote regions. Her assignments have been equally diverse, from covering Alaska's Yukon Quest dogsled race to the national snow-sculpting competition in her home state of Wisconsin.
A former scriptwriter for Paramount Pictures in Hollywood, California, Candice gave up the big city life to return to her roots in the Heartland. Her books include Travel Wild Wisconsin
(University of Wisconsin Press, 2013), Beyond the Trees: Stories of Wisconsin Forests
(Wisconsin Historical Society Press, 2011), An Adventurous Nature: Tales from Natural Habitat Adventures
(Natural Habitat Adventures Books, 2011), The Minnesota Almanac
(Trails Books, 2008), and Great Wisconsin Winter Weekends
(Trails Books, 2006).
She is a web-columnist for several eco-publications, such as the World Wildlife Fund's and Natural Habitat Adventure's blog, Good Nature Travel.
She is a frequent contributor to The Huffington Post
and writes regularly for other nature and wildlife organizations.
