Candice Gaukel Andrews

Writer/Author

Specializing in nature and travel writing, Candice Gaukel Andrews is the author of Great Wisconsin Winter Weekends (2006) and The Minnesota Almanac (2008), both published by Trails Books. Her third book, Explore Wisconsin Forests, nature essays on the character and meaning of Wisconsin's woods, will be published by the Wisconsin Historical Society Press in 2011.
Currently, Candy is a columnist for Gaiam, an international wellness-lifestyle company. Her monthly blog on eco-ethical issues while traveling through nature can be found at http://blog.gaiam.com/blog/author/candiceandrews. Her work has also appeared in several magazines and nature catalogs, including Mushing Magazine, On Wisconsin Magazine, Insider Magazine, and Natural Habitat Adventures' annual catalogs. She has written Web copy for several conservation organizations, and she is the editor of An Adventurous Nature: Tales from Natural Habitat Adventures, a collection of adventure stories from worldwide travel guides. That book is scheduled to be published in 2010.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin, Candy worked as a story analyst and scriptwriter for Paramount Pictures in Hollywood, California. But six years without a Wisconsin winter was enough. She returned to her home state and started a copywriting business. Her magazine and book assignments have taken her as far as Alaska and the Yukon Quest dog sled race and as close as the national snow-sculpting competition in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. She also directs, writes, and produces short-form biographical videos, including one for the late Senator Gaylord Nelson, Founder of Earth Day.
Her copywriting services have been used by international and national clients such as Greyhound Pets of America, Playscapes, the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), the University of Wisconsin, and Natural Habitat Adventures.
